Important Terms and Conditions for Self-Drive Electric Vehicle (EV) Rental to Know Before Renting
- Minimum rental period: 1 day (24 hours). Late return charges: 214–1,070 Baht per hour
- Electric Vehicle (EV): Battery must be returned at least 85% charged; if below this, a service fee of 535 Baht plus actual electricity cost applies
- Contract extension: Notify 1 day in advance and settle payment before contract expiration
- Payment: Bank transfer only; cash payment is not accepted
- Basic insurance: Class 3 coverage included in rental fee — SCDW or Full Protection can be added
- Security deposit refund: Within 24 hours after vehicle return (for transfers) / 15–30 days (for credit card payments)
- No smoking in vehicle: Fine of 3,210 Baht
- No pets in vehicle: Fine of 1,070 Baht
- Vehicle must not be taken outside the country

The driving range per full charge varies depending on the car model. The electric vehicles available for rental at MIDO include:
BYD Dolphin can drive approximately 410–490 kilometers per charge
BYD ATTO 3 approximately 410–480 kilometers per charge
MG MAXUS 9 can drive up to approximately 540 kilometers per full charge according to NEDC standards
However, the actual driving range may decrease or increase depending on driving speed, traffic conditions, number of passengers, luggage weight, air conditioning use, and road conditions. If traveling to other provinces or long distances, we recommend planning charging stations along the route in advance.
Electric EV vehicles available for rental at MIDO, such as BYD Dolphin, BYD ATTO 3, and MG MAXUS 9, can be charged with both AC and DC Fast Charge, with charging connectors varying depending on the usage format of each charging station.
BYD Dolphin supports AC Type 2 up to approximately 7 kW and DC CCS2 up to approximately 60–80 kW depending on the variant
BYD ATTO 3 supports AC Type 2 up to approximately 7 kW and DC CCS2 approximately 70–88 kW depending on the variant
MG MAXUS 9 available for rental at MIDO uses a 90 kWh battery, supports AC up to 11 kW, and DC Quick Charge up to 120 kW, and can charge from approximately 30–80% within about 36 minutes
You can charge the vehicle at public electric vehicle charging stations, gas stations, shopping malls, hotels, rest areas, and charging stations from various EV service providers that support Type 2 or CCS2 connectors. Before traveling long distances, we recommend checking charging stations along your route and battery level in advance, as MIDO notes that traveling in an EV may require stopping to charge along the way.
Yes, you can travel to other provinces with an EV, but you should check the distance of your route and the location of charging stations in advance. Since electric vehicles have limitations on driving range per charge, long-distance travel may require stopping to charge along the way.
You need a national ID card, driver's license, and credit card. For those without a credit card, MIDO has conditions that allow using additional documents on a case-by-case basis, such as pay stubs, bank statements, student ID cards, repair invoices, or airline tickets. You should check the conditions for the EV model you wish to rent before booking.
